DOCTORS TYPICAL VISIT LOCATIONS EMPLOYMENT

Typical Visit

Welcome to our office.

First Visit:

Intake
Upon entering a premier chiropractic clinic a patient should expect a friendly greeting by name by one of the clinics front staff. The patient will be asked to sign-in and to complete an intake form. On the intake you will be asked questions regarding your health history and the primary health concerns that are causing you pain or discomfort.

The exam
The exam will begin with focused questioning about the area of complaint. The doctor will move on to a routine physical exam, and then follow it with an exam that focuses on the areas of concern. The physical exam typically includes a variety of assessments, such as range of motion tests, palpation, reflex testing, muscle strength comparisons, and neurological and orthopedic tests. The physical examination will be performed based on your doctor's clinical judgment, and may involve x-rays and other diagnostic procedures.

Treatment Plan
Upon analysis of the information gathered from the examination and other diagnostic workup, your doctor will explain your present illness in terms you can understand and arrive at a treatment plan to resolve your problem. Treatment may begin the first day or it may be necessary to wait until the following day if diagnostic tests need to be evaluated. The first visit should last approximately 45-90 minutes depending on the complexity of the presenting illness.

Second Visit/ Review of Diagnostic Tests:

Upon entering a premier chiropractic clinic a patient should expect a friendly greeting by name by one of the clinics front staff. The patient will be asked to sign-in. Once the patients' file is prepared the doctor will take the patient back to a treatment room and review any diagnostic tests performed as well as discuss the treatment plan. Treatment will begin following this review. An adjustment or manipulation is usually the central part of chiropractic treatment. The chiropractic adjustment is a therapeutic manipulation that uses controlled force, leverage, direction, amplitude, and velocity directed at specific joints. Your chiropractor will most often make these adjustments to the spine, but he might adjust other joints, such as the ankle, knee, wrist, elbow, or shoulder in order to restore structural alignment or to improve joint function. Adjustments are often accompanied by non-manual therapies such as application of heat or ice, ultrasound, intersegmental traction and rehabilitative stretching and exercise. The second visit should last approximately 20-30 minutes.
